I'm considering Cavity Wax and some sort of Rust Encapsulator like POR-15 or Rust Bullet. The prep for wax wants all surface rust removed, so I think that's out....I've never used POR-15, but I have used Rust Bullet....I'd have to remove all of the undercoat...which is a similar job to the...

I have 3 1971's Rancheros and all 3 of them have this member rusted out. 2 of them are from CA and one is from AZ.

I've had it leak several times, no visual holes in Diaphragm, BF thought it was a thread screw issue. Tapped it out.

This go around, leak again, I just spent last hour rubbing down the Pump cover. Before photo.

Fingers crossed this is the contact seal issue.

Anything else I could be missing?

I replaced the original at 90,000 miles myself from underneath by removing the engine pan (a real pain), removing the rear main bearing cap, drilling a tiny hole in the end of the upper seal half, threading in a small screw, and pulling out the upper seal half. At about age 37 I swore I'd never due this again.

Now at age 79,...
