I think I have the door and hood hinges correct now.

This is my favorite build going on here now (sorry Dan). It's way better than what my Dad is doing to my,...I mean his, Ranchero.
    More pictures, please.

Here is a pic of the hinge detail. Took a lot af measuring and diagraming to make sure the door would not hit the fender.

    Thanks 5.0
Here is a hood pic. The hood opens up in the front then the rear rises until the hood is standing straight up. I had to design and custom build the hinges. I don't believe there is another Torino or Ranchero with this type of hinge.
I can pull the motor without taking the hood off.

Yeah, I used to think that, until I mentioned I didn't really like certain aspects of a certain Ranchero. They let me know what they thought of my opinion, in a big way! Some folks can't take criticism I guess. Might be something to do with feelings of inadequacy? I don't know, I'm no psychologist.
Anyway, Dan, your Ranchero/Mercury Hybrid sucks, and I hope you'll be laughed out of every car show you enter. ;)

Here it is with the fender on. It has a brace under it, so it is not all the way up. Also the fender is not hooked at the bottom, and when it is i have 5/8" more clearance.

Bonus picture. So the gearheads (like me) can get some wood.
This is an old build pic, so it has the pre crank trigger distributor.
At least you get to see a stud wearing a girdle.

    Having a bad day Sean?

I think this project is way CooL and glad he is sharing.

Yes your and your side kicks' opinion (totally off topic fluff posts, 11K and counting?) are sometimes viewed as inadequacy and envy attacks on 72 owners...

I had origionally considered moving the window rearward ans more straight up, but I determined moving the whole section back was easier.
I am not a fan of the vertical doors either, but it is very hard to park in a lot and get in or out due to the wide doors.
I relocated the latch to the pillar, and the latch stud to the door (no slim jim will get in this car) and designed a pneumatic system to open and close the doors as the vertical doors otherwise require knowing how to open and close them.

Looking at your doors make me realize how much better the door will look when I get off my ass and fill the holes from the handles

I have to say that anyone that has priced 72 front end metal and trim might have reason to think we were not of right mind.

I went total shave. The antenna will be a shark fin on the top, and I am welding up a custom 42 gal fuel cell that will be in the back of the bed, so no gas cap.
I laid a piece of paper over the door handle hole, and worked the edges with a ball peen hammer, like making a gasket. I laid the cut out paper on the sheet metal. sprayed it with primer and used my plasma cutter to get the right shape (a nibbler would work fine). That made a perfect piece to fil the hole.

    I will look them up.
I like "change" but I realize that "hope" does not acomplish it.

Ribald1 This is going to be one very cool ranchero when finished. I would love to see this thing in it's final color!

Thanks I am really feeling the LOVE now that you have said that :)
