    Movies

Almost Famous 2000; film about a teenager hired by Rolling Stone magazine in the early 1970s to cover an emerging rock band; shows a 1964 Ranchero at the very beginning of the film, during the opening credits. It also features member George Bittle's '71 Squire, which can be seen in the middle of the movie as he was driving it to the "rock concert" at the San Diego sports arena.

April Love 1957, Pat Boone, Shirley Jones; Shirley Jones owned a blue and white Ranchero.

Blind Vengance, Gerald McRaney; 2/3rds of the way into the movie Gerald drives up to the county courthouse in his jeep. Two cars away in the next parking space next to a red van is a 1977-1979 Ranchero parked.

The Birds, 1963, Rod Taylor, Tippi Hedron; When Tippi Hedron enters the town of Bodega Bay a white Falcon Ranchero is coming down the hill as she drives up.

The Break Up, with Bidget Fonda,The neighbor Gets murdered by Fondas husband after complaining about him banging up his car, The scene with the Ranchero has fonda being confroted by the neigbor in their common drivway. It figures that the killer drives a Chevy.

Bullitt; about half way thru the chase there is a Ranchero that almost gets rearended .Not sure of the year about 1962 I think ,I know its a Falcon Ranchero and it's off white or cream in color.

Charlie Varrick; Joe Don Baker gets a ride in a 1971 on his way to repo. a car

Coming Home;, Bruce Dern and Jane Fonda; while Bruce (her husband) is away at war, Jane drives a very nice light blue 67 Ranchero.

Country; Wilfred Brimly and Sam Shephard; It had a late seventies model parked in front of a store.

Diamonds Are Forever, 1971, Sean Connery; there is a scene where Jill St. John runs out of the back of a kids show in Las Vegas. When the villians chase her out the back, the overview of the parking lot has a '60 to '63 white Falcon Ranchero in the middle of the scene.

Girl Interrupted, 2000, Winona Ryder, Jared Leto; When Susanna talks to Tobias, in the backgournd is a 1967 Ranchero GT owned by member Bob Henry of New Cumberland, PA.
Goldfinger, 1964, Sean Connery; after a 1964 suicide-door Continental is crushed into a cube, a magnet picks it up and drops it into the bed of a Falcon Ranchero. Also features other nice Ford vehicles; a great red '64 Country Squire, and a white '64 Thunderbird.

Gumball Rally; 1971 Ranchero had two cowboys in it chasing the two girls in a Porsche

Hooper, 1978, Burt Reynolds, Jan-Michael Vincent; there is a chase for fun scene in which someone is driving a 77-79 GT

Mad Max; had a few Austrlain Ford Utes in it

Maximum Overdrive, 1986, Emilio Estevez; While Estevez is transferring fuel from the tanker to the underground tank, there is a Torino Ranchero behind the 55-gallon drums.

Michael; There is a '57 ranchero in the movie parked in front of the bar where the fight broke loose.

Neighbors; John Belushi and Dan Akroyd; Dan had a 73, ugly though (green, white wall tires, and huge wood grain sides)

Oxford Blues, 1984, Rob Lowe, Ally Sheedy; opening credits Rob Lowe is hitching and gets passed by a Ranchero. Real star of the film is a red 1955 Thunderbird.

Paris, Texas; Harry Dean Stanton drives a stock crusty '57 Ranchero
Patch Adams, 1998, Robin Williams, Daniel London; This Ranchero is also featured in the photo gallery on the history page. Steve Dolar is the proud owner & builder of the 1965 Ranchero; he and his father drove the truck in the movie as extras. The film was shot in San Francisco.
The Principal, 1987, James Belushi; When the prinipal's motorcycle is being stripped, there is a Ranchero parked next to it.

The Presidio, 1988, Sean Connery, Mark Harmon; Harmon is chasing someone through the city, the '77-'79 Ranchero is shown twice.

The Prophecy, Christopher Walken; Ranchero is sitting out front of a little cottage after the scene where the trailer home explodes.

Radio, Cuba Gooding JR., The guy pulls into the parking lot in his 77-79 Ford Truck and there is a mid 70s Ranchero in the Parking lot next to him.

Repo Man, Sy Richardson, Emilio Estevez; Light (Sy Richardson) drives a brown 72-74 Ranchero 500 with Otto (Emilio Estevez), with nice interior shot and a rear-facing shot of out of the bed. You don't get to see much of the outside of the Ranchero, though. The scene is about 15-20 minutes into the movie, Starting with "They're not scumbags, they're car thieves like us" and ending with Otto getting maced by Missy Magruder.

The Rock, 1996, Nicholas Cage, Sean Connery; in the beginning, right before the fight he is getting into a Ranchero.

There's Something About Mary, 1998, Matt Dillon, Ben Stiller; Opening sequence, 1977-1979 Ranchero. There's also a red El Camino and a blue '79-'81 El Camino in the initial high school parking lot scenes.

    Tollbooth, there is a Ranchero - I think it is a 1968.

Thunder in Carolina, 1960, Rory Calhoun, Alan Hale; Story of drivers at the Southern 500 when they drove real cars; lots of great '57 - '59 cars and one of the pace cars at the start of the race is a '59 Ranchero.

Two Lane Blacktop, 1971, James Taylor (the driver), Warren Oates (GTO), Dennis Wilson (the mechanic); Lousy movie, bad acting but lots of great cars and drag race scenes. As they enter the lots at the drag strips they pass in front of a '67 Ranchero in Arizona, and later a '71 Ranchero GT in Memphis.

Truck Turner, 1974, Isaac Hayes and Yaphet Kotto; there is a chase scene where Isaac Hayes and his sidekick are chasing a guy (a pimp of course) in a pink Lincoln with sidepipes. Just before (or after) the Lincoln gets cracked up, there is a white '73 or '74 Ranchero that just barely misses getting caught up in the mess.

Up In Smoke, Cheech and Chong; The Rancharo has a very short clip, you just about miss it every time, hell I've seen this movie about 8 times and I just found it last week! Just after Cheech tries to pickup 2 babes on a bench by the roudside as he is making a u-turn to pick up Tommy Chong you see it as the camera pans back.

I was watching a rerun of "My Name is Earl" last night, and the main subject of the episode was a nice green 70-71 Ranchero Squire. Earl bought it as a gift for his brother's birthday and it kept getting stolen.

It didn't have to be that good. To serve Earl's purpose (being something better than he owned) it only had to be better than a beater mid-70's ElCamino.

While it wasn't as nice as a 72, it was a very good-looking Squire that I would be very happy to own.......and it was green.

Watched Walk The Line tonight -- the Johnny Cash story -- and in one scene there's a nice green metallic '65. Think it might be his dealer's car.

    ++++++++++++

Now, that's killer. I love it that the car is kinda crusty, they didn't even wash it before making the video. Rusty hood, gasoline stains, and you can even see the sealer goop someone smeared up the A pillars -- trying to stop the water that is probably actually coming in the vents.

'66 is my 2nd favorite Ranchero -- woulda bought one had I not found my '71 first.

    New Feature Film "Jacob"

Hey there... My "Glowing Gas Guzzler" ('73 Chero w/429) is starring in a new film called "Jacob" http://www.indiegogo.com/Feature-film-Jacob

This weekend we shot the first scene with the Sheriff delivering his speech to the Lynch mob vigilantes (including me) who pick their weapons from an array of horrible torture tools which were delivered in the 'Chero. I get to come around and open the tailgate displaying all the weapons while the camera backs off the back of the car, the sheriff jumps up and in and delivers his speech.

Next friday I get to shoot a driving scene with the actual cherry '57 Chevy from Christine which is being driven by another member of the lynch mob.
