The plastic "tabs" broke and my "horn ring" fell off in my hand, they break fairly easy... BE CAREFUL/Gentle with it... Rain cooled things off here today, 66
In order to get the wires out you need to take them out of the connector on the other end. There is a special tool to accomplish that. Also, write down the location of every wire so they go back in the connector properly. They just snap in when reassembling. That shift lever is quite worn. It may work, but should be welded up or replaced.
You can make the tool from a piece of thin metal (I would use a beer can). Cut a strip just over 1/8 inch wide and bend and bend it around a 16 penny nail lenghtwise. Hold it with needle nose pliers and push it in on the plug side of the connector, centering it on the gap in the terminal. Push it in, then give the wire a tug. It will come out. As I said before, going back is easy, they just snap in. I sugested the beer can so the pain will be dulled if you cut yourself doing it this way

I'll wait till I get the part to try this, Yet it seems as if it would be easier to simply cut the wires & then re-attach them?
Not really, cutting and splicing properly will take a lot longer to do and you risk connection problems down the road. Once you do the first wire, you will have it figured out, and the rest will pop right out. Not only that, but that type of connector is in several places, so the skill will come in handy in the future.
On the side of the connector there is a Barb that holds it in place, slip the tool over that barb and it`ll slide outta there...( easily - after you figure out the first one) Tip # 1) even with good eyes, reading glasses are helpful... Good Luck, 66
Figures C&G say they only have the $75.00 dollar part & are out of stock on the $30.00 part & dont know when their getting the cheaper one again. They say the parts are the same its just the company that makes them charges more. Does anyone know where, I can find the cheaper one. Money is very tight right now & I dont wanna start bouncing checks over this. Seems like a bait & switch deal to me.
why not just go to a pick en pull an get the whole coloum out of a van,, any short shaft will do then you got a new coloum with tilt.....
