Thanks for the approval.... its a pleasure to be here. However someone please pull me from my confusion..... I have been scanning the interweb with the interest to purchase a mid-sixties Ranchero. In my searches I have found the 1966 Ranchero with BOTH the Falcon front end AND the Fairlane front end........ whats going on here?? Did Ford give us a choice in body styles?? I know the '67 was definitely Fairlane sheet metal, but I have found many advertised as 1966 Ranchero's with the 1966 Fairlane grill and stacked lights for sale alongside the '66's with the single headlight Falcon front end. Thanks in advance for any info that might help.

67 was the only year Rancheros had stacked headlights.

There are some VERY modified Rancheros on this site, and sometimes errors are made when posting information.
Carl has a 72 front end on a 73, and I have an extended cab 72, as a couple of examples. There are quite a few others.

There is a thread here of that and other parts of my build.
This is not the place to go into why I stopped posting pictures of what I do.

Had Ford done something like that, and a 70's extended cab, the Ranchero brand just might have ended up still being around today.

This is what I want to do to mine, and I wish the body dorks had used it with Ford styling cues: cougarchero.jpg

That's just a thousand times better than the LTD II (Large Thirsty Dog Too) front.

Not absolutely sure from which plant, leaning toward Atlanta, sorta' remember them running out of Falcon parts. Some 66 built late year did have the stacked headlight nose. I like both versions.
Dad has a 66 Falcon version that I want him to put a 66 Comet nose on. Everybody has their own ideas when it comes to their favorite Ranchero. talladega_ranchero_015_1358453536.jpg

Thanks, Hillbilly. Been doing some more digging and have found several sources indicate something similar to a mid-year change from the Falcon to the Fairlane for whatever reason.... would love to know the TRUE story behind this...... I have found too many instances on the internet of the 1966 Fairlane Ranchero to justify owner modification or erroneous posting........ probably half the Ranchero's found online are like this........ don't want to get too hung up on this, just trying to be an educated consumer if I'm going to purchase one!! Thanks for all the feedback, guys.

That's the Talladega nose, isn't it? I think I have a pic on my computer of this same one. Appears to be the same, but with the "TALLADEGA" on the windshield. tallachero.jpg

It has a Mercury brother with the aero nose. Keep a look out, it will be on the prowl too Andy. cyclone_ranchero_coors_hood_003_990889946.jpg

That would be very cool, i actually like the 77-79's but i think this would definately be an improvement.
