    Very wet season promotes growth, then you add unseasonably hot weather, it gets ugly quick and it's not even fire season yet, still to early for all of this, then come the Santa Ana winds to finish it off, and then just a few days to late comes the rain and the mudslides.

    As what people call a 'drought' is actually the normal weather here there are (as happens in a desert) a lot of opportunistic plants with short lives (a few months) that sprout up after rainfall they die over the summer. This creates a lot of flammable material spread out across all the forested areas. A bolt of lightning, a doper drops a joint, campfire at a pot farm gets out of control etc.... and it's on.

    Yep that's all true ribald I live in medford right smack in the middle of those smoking devils.
    Last few days have been clear but a week ago you couldn't see 200 yards.
