I currently have 1977-ish remote Sport mirrors on my '70. The drivers mirror is great and without issue. The passenger mirror has the cable, but it is yet to be hooked up properly. It looks like I will have to at least remove the door in order to drill the holes required to finish the remote install. The question is, how can I convert that remote mirror to manual? It seems the remote style ball and socket in the mirror is too loose to use as a manual mirror. Is there a Ford part to look for than can be used as a bolt on solution? Just like to weigh my options before I commit to another project. Thanks
, On my 72 the mirrior cable is in the same spot as speaker wires , you can drill the door jamb with out removing door , And drill the door from inside the door with door panel off and window rolled up , again the 72 has room to doit yours is a 70 might not be enough room , do not know about converting mirior ,worth looking at /Andy
yes you can easily convert it to manual by changing the mirror and mounting bracket it is held on by 1 screw they make reproductions https://secure.cougarpartscatalog.com/c3c4.html
WCCC site shows the complete unit out of stock, but the mirror glass itself is available and affordable. I will take a minute to open up the mirror and see if I can add some tension to the plate similar to what their rebuild video shows. That would work just fine. Thanks!
