On the speaker wires there is a plastic piece with two metal prongs sticking out (male X 2). On the radio there is a place where that plugs in (female X 2). These kinds of group male/female connections are common in electrical. Those of us in the trade are not responsible for the kinky things we have to work with.
Ok what I mean is on the radio side of things . Where do u connect the dash mount 6x9 ? Where on the radio ?
It can vary by radio manufacture but the spot you plug in the two pins is normally directly on the rear of the unit, close to the antenna cable receptacle. Don't have one out for a photo, sorry.
Short of luckily finding one in an older car, I would hunt for an established radio or TV repair shop who has been in business for decades. Maybe look in "Hemmings" magazine for a dedicated older radio repair shop.
this place sell connection for 1953 -1982 radio speaker connections https://www.lectriclimited.com/repair-components/
One wire (fused) on side is for "acc" when key is on , other is for illumination ,then where does ground go ???? Post on back of radio ? Lost
Is no separate ground on my 58 or 59. The radio chassis is grounded at the mounting points to the dash. This is before plastic dash crap, both control studs and the strap on the back anchor to the metal dash. The speaker is the only part with a separate hot and ground wire in that two pin plug. Simplicity.
Ok great info - I have a plug coming in the mail with zero wires after the pin , best way to modify this? Or do you know what pin is what?
Solder wires to the pins. Pins should be hollow, insert stripped wire then solder them in. Big pin is speaker +, small pin is speaker -. I don't remember the ohm rating of the speaker but 8 ohm should work fine.
