My best guess is that bad gas caused a sticky valve.

You know me, I ain't the guessing kind.
That is a possibility, as is pushrod fatigue. A bad timing chain will also do that.

Bad chain will cause a sluggish start very true

Accelerator pump is an issue - in the video you can hear the squeak of the gas pedal, and there is too much delay before the engine revs up. Should rev up when you move it, NOT after. Check and make sure there is NO freeplay in the linkage (ZERO) and then check to see if it squirts with just the SLIGHTEST crack of the throttle. Quite often they will squirt with a wide open activation of the throttle, but not when you just barely open the throttle, and that will cause it to stumble. Does it stumble with a hard whack on the gas also?

Yes. Accelerator pump works with the slightest press. Full throttle works fine, it'll spin the tires with no hesitation.

You have Roy there, why are you asking us? CJ was always one of the ones here solving problems. Did you piss him off or something? He can have you up and purring in no time at all.

Hey, CJ was always a matched set, along with Sarah. Where the hell did she and RED go anyway?

I meant, why are you asking the forum for help when you have a master at your disposal already.

Yeah, I know. But he's busy, of course.
It's also nice to hear different opinions, as always. That's why I stick I around here.. It's great. I rarely visit any other forums because they suck.

Given the age of the engine and the overly aggressive way in which you drive it, you bent a pushrod in a C, it happens with that design. Most times, nonadjustable valvetrain produces too much preload along with the "C" oil system providing too much oil to the lifters could could cause bad lifter pump up, which could cause it. More than likely though (my best guess) is the valve guides are worn causing the valve to stick, which happens more often than not with a seasoned engine. Put those 4V heads I gave you on it...LOL

LOL "overly aggressive" Naw:D. I just bought a set of 351C heads for 45$. Hoping that I can get them on soon. Also looked down the cylinders, and it's been honed. Did you do that?
