Just (finally) got my '61 Ranchero home after a year -it was some distance away and the timing wasn't good for the seller or me to get it.

Lots of rust. Might be too much to survive, but it has a 289, 4-speed and a 9-inch rear end that his uncle put in years ago, so I have a dream...

Happy I found this place and hope to contribute asap.

    Stan

Welcome to the site. Any pics & info on the car? How bad is the rust on it?

    Thanks.
Anything back from the firewall is bad. Floors, "bed", tailgate, etc. The driver's side rear part of the leaf spring is through the floor of the bed.
I might not be able to save it with my lack of skills...

….closer to the main question, the driver's side frame rail also sucks, but oddly only in the back. I would love to back-half it, but with my skills/knowledge, it might take me the rest of the decade to do it.

    dang it.

Welcome Stan... I had a dream too. Started four years ago and now I have to chirp the tires every time I take her out! Brittany is a very sassy "B"!

Take your time, keep the vision... it will come together, and most likely with the information provided here from more then one or two of these guys! And Gal!

    Welcome :D
We all started somewhere along that ‘rusty’ trail . Ask a lot of questions with pictures and we can help lead you up and out of the woods. Or at least give you a lot of opinions if it is a up or downhill project effort
