So, looking through your collection of 6 Pinto "collectibles" to see which of them you are now willing to sacrifice???

Note to all - I'd be willing to bet that Hillbilly doesn't have even one.

I'll bet this Pinto could beat that Mercury Capri!

    Well, no wonder it's $18K, it's not a rear-ended, burned-out hulk with a skeleton behind the wheel!

That's the Marti 1 of 1, and would be worth $23K.

That thing was probably really squirrely at speeds above 40 mph.

It was the roof rack what pushed it over the $5K mark

My favorite Pinto was the orange wagon from the Blues Brothers movie.

It was red (I owned one just like it, why I snagged it in the first place), but what I loved about it, is when it was falling to earth, those shots were a test to make sure it didn't get squirrely as it fell. It did so well, they kept the shots for the film! And, when the Gruppenführer tells Henry Gibson's character "I've always loved you" as a dying declaration, that was just too hilarious!

When I was a hopeful high school graduate in 1984 the Pinto was HIGH on my list as was the Gremlin as both were going for ~$500 in un blown up form. My step Dad took pity on me and sold me his 77' T-Bird for $1500 but made me get a bank loan for it. That was when I discovered you can't pay $200 one month for a $78.00 payment and skip a month. Now I R MBA and on most days I can spell it right. Of course at that time I was also part owner of a 68' GTO that was built from SEVEN different cars. The JY owner said, "For $500 you boys take what parts you need, I just want a ride when you get it running." When we came back to him in rattle can primer paint the car was stupid fast, he bought us a tank of gas and took us up the GSP to Englishtown Raceway, made us take all the tools, jacks, tires and crap out of the back and the back seat, he sat in the shotgun seat when my bud put in a sub 9 sec 1/4 mile. Come to think of it I think he bought us another tank of gas on the way home and lunch. I'm sure he has passed on to his just rewards but I can't help thinking now how he must have crowed in his easy chair when those two wild eyed boys from EAST Jersey took him single digits at Englishtown with scrap and crap from his JY.

    Cheers,

    Doc
