I can't remember what thread it was that I was going to post the weight of my Ranchero, so here it is.
1971 Ranchero, 460, C6, bench seat, PS, PB, full tank of gas.

    LF - 1044 lbs
    RF - 1020 lbs
    LR - 858 lbs
    RR - 828 lbs

    Total - 3750 lbs

    Left/Right %- 50.7/49.3
    Front/Rear % - 55.0/45.0
    Cross - 50.1%

It's fatter than I thought, but also better balanced than I figured it would be. Before adding engine, trans, interior, trim, etc. (just a rolling shell), it weighed 2,650, so there's 1,100 lbs of stuff in there, mostly engine.

The bastard runs better than it ever has. You have to pay attention just to keep the rear tires from squealing. I don't. Went to a show up in Madison County yesterday, which included a few firsts; the farthest it's ever been driven in a single trip (60 miles round trip), and the first time it's ever run at 70 mph for an extended period of time. I learned it gets 9.2 mpg, and the 3.55 rear gear is probably not ideal for this torque monster. 2,400 rpm at 70 was fun though. I didn't even get a Top 25 trophy in a show of 100 cars, of which an easy 30 were POS. Almost half of the winners were cars recently bought new. A 2019 Corvette, a 2017 Mustang GT, and even a new Durango SRT should not be winning sheet, in my opinion. Anyway, I got dehydrated and sunburnt on a 93° end of Sept. day, so it's all good.

He would probable be better off with a set 3.00 and could even get away with a set of 2.89 if he can find a set

He got a Top 25. And deserved it. You what else was there? A 1969 TransAm, with 60,000 miles, sort of used up but in great condition. Original paint, interior, etc. Dude bought it from the original owner, an elderly man, last year, who told him he removed the blue strips back in the early 70's because he thought they were the reason he kept getting pulled over by the cops. He wouldn't tell me what he paid for it. He smiled and said he stole it.

I had something like 2:77 in my Cutlass 455, and it was perfect.

He's still new to the scene, so once the locals get used to him, he'll rake in a few pity prizes. It is a pretty nice Chero.
