Welcome Logan. I also just bought a 79 Ranchero 500 in August of last year. Just had a rear window leak sealed a couple of weeks ago and am waiting for the snow to clear so that I can take it to get the carb rebuilt - 302 2 bbl.
This is a good group and very helpful.

Dude, I have been following your Mad Max rebuild. No lie about the vinyl top. That whole thread really got me thinking about the '79 T-bird T-top... haha. You got a lead on body work up in Marysville or have you been tackling that stuff yourself?

I feel you on the hibernation. Look forward to seeing how the rebuild goes!

 

I haven't started on bodywork yet, but I'm gonna do it myself. For my build purposes, I'm taking shortcuts with the rust repair, and it's not gonna be pretty. Even did all my Mustang's bodywork myself way back when. There are a few shops up here, though. One that looks good is Marysville Rod & Custom, though I'm not sure how much actual body work they do.

My name is Tom. I live in utah and I have an unrestored 1959 ranchero I've been working on for nearly two years in my spare time. I'm happy to be amongst fellow ranchero enthusiasts.

 

Does any one know where to purchase a front window seal or weather stripping for front windsheild 79 Ranchero ? Thanks, kawika

 

THE 79 ranchero windsheild uses black urethane seal, its applied with a chaulk gun the product I used on my Ranchero,see below , WELCOME TO THE SITE /Andy

Beautiful product but very messy and hard to remove from your skin. I suggest a $7.99 box of HF blue nitrile gloves. Wear two pair when handling the sealant.

I'm a new member, recently acquired a 1958 Ranchero off the internet, po wasn't sure what was in it, just that it was a v8, figured it was a y block, and a fordomatic. Now I have it, turns out its a FE engine, assuming its a 352 for now, and it looks like a c6 tranny. Body is pretty solid, some rust on tailgate, and it looks like floorpans will need work, somebody did some fiberglass work, won't know until I can strip it down. Someone has painted it flat black and most of the chrome has been painted with sparkly silver paint, luckily as I clean it with stripper and such, seems they didn't sand it. Gonna take it all back to chrome and polished stainless. Seems car came from california, then the guy I bought it from, got it at an auction in Texas, and now in Florida . I am presently collecting parts, other than a minute or two , I am working 7 days a week until May, when I can really tear into it. I am welcome to any help on parts or suggestions.
