Hi Guys, Ive been keeping my eyes out for a camper shell for my 1979 Ranchero. Theres one Ive found a couple of hours drive away....see photos. Can anyone advise if a 1974 Ford Ranchero camper shell fit will fit a 1979? The bed looks similar dimensions. Hoping it will fit my 1979 below Any thoughts? Thanks
Doing a search, provided some answers. One states 72/79 as same? Your mileage may vary........ https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091020013336AAyT64l
Hey Saff54, I figure if I go ahead with the camper I will be able to take it on and off depending on the need..camping, surf trips or cruising. The camper secures to the four hold down corners with turnbuckles...but if you have any information about places to source a tonneau cover please pass along Thanks
To answer your original question, yes. When I originally took Babe in, I still had my '74 Squire, and the guy I got Babe from told me the topper came off a '75, so if it hadn't been destroyed in a windstorm, it would've gone on the '74.

Probably not going to make the mid 70s Ranchero. We do get several inquiries about them but the bottom of the rear window starts to dip below the side rails and tailgate which doesn't work for our hinge style cover. We are in search of someone in the DFW area to bring by a 68-70 that may work out. In any case we would need the vehicle here at our shop. Thanks 1-800 CRAFTEC andrewok1, Aug 7, 2015 #1
Thanks for the added information. Yes it didn't look like they had any examples of 72-79 on their website. A bit more digging around and I found a place in LA that does custom fiberglass tops...http://www.gaylordslids.com/rancheros/ They look pretty solid...theres even a video showing the install Thanks again
I have a Gaylord lid that I can't use due to extending my cab. If you are interested in it, shoot me a PM. You would have to pick it up here in Oakland.
I'd let it go to a member here for $300. there is a thin coat of black Rinogard on it that was put on to protect it from the sun until color decision was made on the car. You will want to paint it as the Rinogard was put directly onto the gelcoat with no prep so that it would be easy to remove. So easy, in fact, that it is removing itself. I would have to pull it out and take pics, I have none on hand.
