Hi all, it's me. My wife and I have finally moved to our new home in the Marlborough Sounds. It's an area at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. We moved here a few weeks back after a 3 year search for a place to move ourselves and our entire animal family to. Yesterday I secured a great job at New Zealand King Salmon as area engineer and will be starting next week. My work place is an hour long boat ride from the local wharf and is almost in the Cook Straight. Looking forward to living so far away from the hustle of the big city. I'll figure out some photo uploads soon.

Wow. It sounds like here in Western Washington State, on Puget Sound. It sounds like living in Tacoma and boat riding to Mukilteo, to work at the Boeing Plant here in Everett.

It's an Awsome trip. It takes 10 minutes to drive from my shed to the wharf and it's highway all the way from my letter box. The water taxi travels at 35 knots through 3 different areas of the Pelorus Sound. The last leg of the journey is called the Mad mile for its rough ride accross the exit into open water. The seals and dolphins are quite pesty but the lunchtime fishing is encouraged.

Nice, mofo. Sounds like the kind of commute I would like! If I didn't work from home, that is.

That is epic stink, if I say so. What's stink mean? Awesome, I hope.

Sort of like my view, sans the tropical plants.

I have mountains but no stink, unless stink means cool, not sure about that... but I do have big mean bears here instead of tropical plants, which is bullshit... tropical plants are way better.

That's just a NZer showing off ! Stink does mean " not good " but we usually use it tongue - in - cheek as well . Just gotta love the differences in the use of the English language. That part of NZ is a really special place , you are lucky to have found a place there fomocomofo . Looks as good as Gizzy . [ now that will confuse the others here ! ]

Yeah stink is kind of rubbing it in I guess. Your right Denis. This place rocks. It took 3 years of back and forth trips from Auckland ( which is at least 600 Kms from wellington which is where we catch the big vehicle ferry to cross the cook straight to get to the South Island.) just to find the right place for the right price. What part of the coast do you live in Denis ?

Those tropical plants you speak of are our native bush. Geographically we are placed in the Antipodes I think. The tropics are a 1000 miles north of us. The temp here at the moment is around 2 - 5 degrees C at night and 15 during the day.

I watched a few episodes of a series called Wild New Zealand on Animal Planet yesterday evening. Pretty neat little hunk of land you guys have there. Seems to be a lot of stink and a fair amount of Gizzy too. Those glowing spiders- too cool!

You're thinking about the movie shot there called Lord of the Rings. It's the only place left on the planet with Hobbits.

FF. the glowing fizzy worms are really a bug with phosphorescence in a gland at the end of its tail to attract a mate. Similar to fire fly I guess. Very Gizzy indeed.
