We have this crazy driveway, 140' long and around a 30˚ incline. The entry at the bottom was sinking over the years, so I hired a contractor to take a look & replace the culvert if needed, and add some asphalt at the top where the turn is sharp into our new garage. Uh, NEEDED... the entire bottom half of the old galvanized culvert was rotted away: The contractors were out today after we finalized a bid, and while working, realized the woefully inadequate bid they provided. The young bucks were moving hot asphalt to the top in a wheel barrow, and struggling mightily. I offered to help pushing the wheelbarrow up, and immediately popped a muscle in my calf, rendering me substantially more useless than normal. Luckily, it requires much R&R, allowing plenty of time for drinking beer and watching Netflix while consuming all variety of snacks. Silver lining, etc…. That compacter took the guy for a ride down the driveway and into the woods, so they had to get two guys manning it. I don't miss shoveling snow from this driveway when we were working and had to get there; now, who cares?
looks like a scary ride, with a little snow , how many times has the neighbor's greenhouse been plowed into
Neighbor across the street has a driveway like that. Twice after an ice storm they decided it would be a good idea and try to use it untreated. The ended up in my ditch ass-up both times. I wouldn't have needed it to happen twice before I learned...
Three times? 80% of the driveways around here have slopes that much, or more. Before snow everyone parks at the road. Wimps.
Can't park on the road here, too narrow. Anyway, stay home or spread salt, problem solved. I bet BB already knows that.
Or get your fat butt out and shovel. Even on the city streets, you need to shovel if you want to get in and out.
