I e mailed Auto Metal Direct last week and offered to send them my rear bumper for a mold to produce a new bumper for the 71.
As you know no one makes these, they make the front's but not the rear.
The cost to re chrome a rear bumper runs from $575 up from all the re chrome's I have contacted.
The new front cost's me $328.00 and I am hopeing the new rear would be cheaper then having mine re chromed.
If you are interested you might drop AMD a e mail requesting one as they e mailed me back and said he would check with the head of there R&D about producing these and they would get back to me with an answer.
    Thanks
    Greg

I think this is a great idea! Hopefully they can figure out that it has possibilities beyond the niche - that they fit more model years than just the '71 and more body styles than just the Ranchero. The more cars that it fits, the more "demand" that it offers, the more likely they are to take up the challenge.

Very cool, ask them also to reproduce the cowl for the 70-71 also.

I think the only cars the rear bumper fits is the Ranchero and station wagon. My interchange manuals are in storage about a 180 mile round trip from me so I can't check.
I would love to have a complete cowl replacement for my 71.
I just spent 3 months rebuilding mine last summer. What a pain. Not the hardest job I have done but very time consuming.
I will post their answer as soon as I hear from them.

I have heard nothing yet. I was hoping for a quick answer but with these company's sometimes take there time answering. They have to go to marketing and do an assessment on projected sales and decide if they can make any money.
The more people who contact the company and ask for the bumper shifts their thinking that they can make a profit.
That is why I posted it here hoping enough people would contact them and they would see a demand for it and put it into production.

    Good deal.
I am sure it will help. Since they make the front I hope they decide to make a rear.

Bad news. Received a e mail that they have no plans to produce a rear bumper at this time.
Not enough people need them to justify the cost to produce them.
It was worth a try anyway.

That's a smart business decision, which I'm surprised took so long to answer.

I have a good one that I will send to the chrome shop this week or whenever they reopen.
If i could have bought a new one I would have sent you my old one.
Not surprised by their decision but it was a hope.
