i was considering using air shocks for the rear to help with sag when i load up the bed with stuff - like from home depot etc. Anybody have recommendations to mfrs?
They're not air shocks, but I'm using these Monroes on the back of mine. They really help, with out the hassle of running air lines & leaks.
spring mounts are made to support the load shock mounts are not! https://store.airslamit.com/default/airmaxxx-universal-over-load-air-assist-air-over-leaf.html https://store.airslamit.com/default/load-leveling-kits/air-assist-overload-kit/universal-kits.html
I agree 100% I found this out as a teenager the hard way 1966 cheby impala driving down express way loud sudden noise rear end drops on passenger side car starts driving weird pull over go investigate found air shock sticking half way thru trunk floor wasnt pretty big pain to repair also
Mine came to me with Montgomery Ward air shocks and everything was toast. Replaced them with MONROE MA805's and they work for leveling or light assist. You would have to check to see if that number worked on your 67. I did have to request (insist) that Monroe send me a hose kit with enough line in it as what came in the box was about 2' short.
nice, thanks for the info/link.. monroe has sim version for my loop-stud factory setup. now, lets get past this virus crap.
I would suggest going with a higher rate spring . Have seen shock perches crack and fail because they are not designed to handle the extra weight. And that is on full frame cars could not imagine the damage on a sub frame/uni body car.
Mine came with monroes, pita, always loosing pressure and rattling around. As soon as I can I’m junking them.
