Hi All , just perusing Hemmings Rancheros for sale and saw a 55 custom Ranchero. Looked quite good , a lot of work done. Would be interested what others think. No , I don’t want to buy it - happy with my 66 ! Also to get a vehicle out here these days would at least triple the US sticker price .

No such thing as a '55 Ranchero...

Yeah , that’s it. It is advertised as a Ranchero but as we all know it is a custom build.

I think I like that rear window treatment better than a true coupe utility. Obviously a custom build with steering on the wrong side. 1955 ute brocure.png

Me thinks the bed area must not be done very well...... no pictures of inside of the "Bed"

My Dad was working at Ford Back then, one of the designers of the original Ranchero was Allen Inhelder, he just passed away a couple years ago.
In 53 my Dad said they had drawings of the sedan utility on the drawing board.

That doesn’t surprise me . The mainline in Hillbillies post is the same as I owned way back except mine was an Aussie 57 , same front end as a 56 custom. I will try to get my wife to scan a couple of old photos and see if I can post them.

Definitely don't look the 57 Ute I saw in Australia a few years ago. For the kind of money they want for this I would expect some nicer door panels and somebody should detail the underneaths. I wish Ford would have sent some of their last version of the Falcon Utes our way before they shut down the factory down there.

I could never understand why the Aussie utes were never available in the US , mostly nice lookers and some with plenty of power too.
