I almost went with chrome reverse rims. But it just didn't look right. Glad I went with the torque thrust rims. They just 'fit ' better.

I never liked reverse wheels. They just look, well, 'cheap.'

20200615_173151.jpg Finally got the console permanently mounted(yes-it's square with the dash. Just doesn't look it in the picture). Also got the power window regulators in . Console contains 2 drink holders, window switches , emergency flasher switch, vacuum gauge & power panel.

Well crap! was on schedule to get back to Utah and work on the transmission-until the family there all tested positive for Covid. I guess all the parts will stay with me in Nevada for a while longer.

Finally got something done. Replaced radiator with an aluminum one, replaced radiator hoses and installed a thermostat(it didn't have one). Also rebuilt the 2300 carb-doesn't leak anymore and now will idle smoothly at 800rpm. Next trip, maybe paint? (this living in 2 states is a pain sometimes).

20211104_123243.jpg I was bored since the car is in a different state, so I made some wheel cribs. Now I will be able to move around the next time I'm underneath. They will give me another 15".
I dumpster dived where they are building new homes-free wood!

Finally! After a long dry spell, I was able to do something on 'Red Rocket'. Tailgate painted. A little orange peal, but not bad. Doesn't show in the pic, but it is actually flame red. I head back to Utah (where the truck is) next week. Maybe I'll get ambitious & get the final primer on. Paint? Maybe. I checked with the few local shops that will do a total paint & they are at least 6 months out & won't even guarantee that. Since I just want a 'daily driver' paint job, think I will just do it myself .

Hot Rod magazine did a rustoleum with a roller paint job a few years back. I wouldn't do it or recommend it (especially on one of our precious Rancheros), but it wasn't ghastly bad. Maybe on a badly weathered daily driver commuter car.

But the prep work is the killer, and there was just as much of it on that one.
