Happy I can now chat with the learned aficionados of the American Ute.

    Current vehicle:
    67 Fairlane 500
XL Ranchero, 289, Auto, AC, PB, Springtime Yellow, Black interior.
Recently installed a 'Craftec' tonneau - lid style bed cover.....looks great, no domes on the bed chrome.

New chrome effect on the door panel trim, instrument bezel and XL dash lower finned trim, using chrome wrap, black sharpie pen and a sharp modelers knife....and a lot of patience. Sucked up some of that COVID lockdown time nicely.

Unfortunately someone must have been waving the cigarette lighter close to the socket and warped the bottom of the bezel... but I'm happy with the chrome finish.

    Wow your 67 looks immaculate!
Not sure how I'd PM you.
Thanks for the offer, I'll try and secure a replacement like you have done rather than cut mine atm.

Thanks,I understand you wanting one complete,I do have another complete bezel with AC I’ve been holding on to,if I decide to part with it I’ll post in parts for sale, the pic I posted was from last year, since then I pulled the grille and polished it 737384FF-C290-45C2-AA2A-96309FB73051.jpeg

Hi Kiwi Guy , nice to see another NZer with a Ranchero join the forum . That’s a good looking Ute. I live in Gisborne and imported my 66 from Ohio in 2015. It has pretty much been my daily driver since. I also looked at fitting one of those Craftec covers but decided against it, mainly because of the restrictions it would impose. Look great though! I haven’t managed to drive my Ranchero to Auckland yet but will sooner or later as my son lives there. I have also met a guy with a 67 from there when he was down here visiting family - maybe you ?
    Denis.

No.. the guy that bought it from photos, purchased it from a guy that had owned it from new in San Jose, (still got the black plates). He then decided when it arrived in Wellington that he didn't want it. He had packed the Craftec lid in the vehicle before it was shipped. I flew down, looked at it & drove it back to Auckland, where i've been mucking around with it over lockdown. I was also looking at a 66 in Hamilton, but it was a little beat up and rusty behind the cab, so passed it up.
I was generally looking for a reliable ride to take down to Beach Hop in March.
Previously owned a 67 XR Oz Fairmont 289 C4 - 65 Fairlane 4dr 302 4 spd, and a ground up resto on a 68 302 4v auto fastback Mustang, so Fords in general have been in my garage alot.

    Glad you have joined us.

Do you in New Zealand have all the terrific new UTE Rancheros like Australia? Gosh I loved seeing those.

Yes we got them as they were released from Ford Australia.
Both Ford Pursuit, Boss (Ford Performance Vehicles) & the Falcon Styleside Box, FG X, inline turbo 6 cyl models. Ford ceased local manufacture in 2016.
Now of course, the Ford Ranger series of pickups are the most popular trade-style vehicles in both Ozzy and NZ.

Check this out if your interested?

One of the best though was the Oz built 1978 Ford Australia GS ute

    Google it and see!
