07 f150 issue

    Afternoon all,so my 07 been running good,but when I go to back up the motor sputters and the motor pings likes it’s out of oil and occasionally stalls,any thoughts?as usual thanks in advance,going forward,no issues,70-80 cruises great,current mileage,325,000

    Sounds like a transmission related issue if it runs OK forward but not in reverse. Stick shift or automatic?

    Hey plum,automatic,5.4 liter,runs great forward,had the transmission rebuilt 2years ago this December

    1) Is it the 3V 5.4, and if so, 2) have you had the cam phasers replaced under warranty? I know, it doesn't seem like a cam phaser problem could cause your symptom, but with these higher-tech engine controls, anything's possible.
    If you have access to a scan tool with live data, take a look at both the engine and trans PIDs, try to see if there's an anomaly in them when the trans is shifted to reverse.
