Hello All, New here! My wife bought a 65 Ranchero and I'm tasked with getting it fixed up. I'll post a pic later. One of the first things we want to do is install disc brakes up front and maybe in the rear as well. Of course that will require larger wheels (currently has 14's). We like the Torq Thrust wheels and would like to use 17's front and rear. I've searched thru the forum and couldn't find specifically where someone has installed these on a 65(ish) car. I also haven't had the time to get under it and do some measuring. Hoping someone has first-hand experience with this. One a side note, we would also like to install power steering (remember, the wife is driving this). It's got a 289 in it. Been looking into that as well. Thanks for any advise you can provide! Don
I added disc brakes on my '65. Then added 15" torque thrust wheels. Don't know if there's room for 17's.
It's gonna be tight, even with narrow wheels and lo-pro tires. You definitely can stick with the original 15" size, or go to a 16" with lo-pro tires, and not have problems. But it'll look great with them.
My 69 has 14 inch wheels, and factory disc brakes. So don't necessarily need to change wheel size to upgrade to disc's.
