I have rebuilt a couple Mustangs (‘65 and ‘66) but this is my first venture in to a car older than mid-60’s and my first Ranchero. I’m in love with the car and very much looking forward to digging in to it and making improvements. It currently runs ok but there’s a lot of work on the interior (wipers, radio, clock, temp gauge, etc don’t work) and the workmanship on the finish leaves a lot to be desired. Hoping to lean on the experts in this forum for some education and help! first lesson I’ll need is how to upload pictures to this forum. Lol
Friarfan, you can drag and drop photos. Just look at this. Would love to see your '58. http://www.ranchero.us/forum/index.php?threads/adding-photos.28519/
Aw yes. Very nice. Been a long time since I've seen a '58. Looks like the original Y-block has been replaced. Great place for a 460 or even a 427 (if you have the $$).
Yeah, originally had a 352 in it but I took it over with this 390 in it. It’s got a 4 barrel edelbrock carb, streetmaster 390 intake, exhaust manifolds, cherry bomb mufflers, and a points distributor. Plan on immediately doing the following; Install seatbelts Install wiring harness Pertronix distributor/ignition/wires Fix temp gauge Plugs/oil change Radiator flush Spacer on carb Upgraded fan blade Fan shroud Fix rear view mirror (very loose) Fix Window regulators and install glass Sooner rather than later Front disc brakes Replace suspension/body bushings Wiper motor Antenna/Radio
Well dang. I think Gear Heads Cruiser Products is gone but I see that Fabulous Fords (fabulousfords.com) still has plenty of custom products for '57-'64 Fords.
That's a great source thank you! I've been struggling to find any decent suppliers and that one looks like the best one out there for original stuff.
Welcome to the site. Check Detroit Iron Information Systems for manuals. I used the digital manuals, the part numbers in the assembly diagrams were also used by National Parts Depot. Made it easy to cross reference from other models. If needed.
