Yes, but a picture can prove and show a potential buyer much more than words.

No pics in his ad. Oh and why the higher price?

The pics are to give a general idea of the over all condition of the vehicle.

The VIN would be usefull for a potential buyer to investigate the past of the vehicle, IE salvage title, wether or not the car is stolen, what fines or leins are on the car.

The VIN also tells you if it's a true GT, what eng the vehc. was born with, & production year.

You have to understand, this isn't craigslist. This is a site full of people who are here for Rancheros. Withholding information for any reason isn't going to endear you to anyone here. Not posting the VIN is, to say the least, suspicious. For the anonomity of craigslist, fine, but here you're dealing with folks who know more about Rancheros than Ford does. Hell, some of these people have Ranchero VIN numbers tattooed on their arms.

No one's trying to call you out on it, you just have to understand where you are in cyberspace right now.

No one really wants the complete VIN - what they are really after is something along the lines of the first 5 or even 7 digits - such as my '72 GT Bluefish is 2A48Q33XXXX. That tells a potential buyer a wealth of information without revealing anything that could lead to potentially trying to get a false title made for the car. My '72 Ranchero 500 Goldfish is 2A47N24XXXX. My other '72 Ranchero GT Whitefish is 2A48Q20XXXX.

    What that tells the buyer:

Ranchero NR 1 - 1972 Model year, Built in Atlanta, 48 is the GT, the Q is a 351 4V, and the sequential numbers indicate it was built in July 1972.

Ranchero NR 2 - 1972 Model year, Built in Atlanta, 47 is the 500, the N is a 429 4V, and the sequential numbers indicate it was built in April 1972.

Ranchero NR 3 - 1972 Model year, Built in Atlanta, 48 is the GT, the Q is a 351 4V, and the sequential numbers indicate it was built in February 1972.

2 of the Rancheros have limited slip differentials, one has a 4 Speed Wide Ratio Manual Transmission, 2 have C-6 Transmissions, one was loaded with every possible option including cruise, one does not have an air conditioner, and 2 have the Actual Ram Air Option, 1 dealer installed, one from the factory. Guess which is which?

    vin

WE ARE JUST TRYING TO SELL THIS VEHICLE,
NOTHING ELSE MORE NOTHING MORE COMPLICATED,
IT IS A GT RANCHERO,VERIFIED WITH A 351C "CLEVELAND ENGINE! i know since i work at a parts store and know what a 351c gt ranchero is
IT HAS THE OEM GT SCOOP HOOD, AND DASH EMBLEMS and correct production numbers,AND WE ARE THE SECOND OWNERS,
BUT WE WANTED TO SELL IT SINCE WE DO NOT USE IT since we have other vehicles and thought somebody would want it, however
IF IT IS THAT COMPLICATED FOR SOME OF YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT your making a issue of needing the vin numbers,or needing to know where the ranchero was made which is atlanta,THEN I DO NOT KNOW WHAT MORE TO SAY,
    thank you
