Hi everyone, I have a 1974 Ranchero 500 (though it has a '72 front nose), and I am trying to restore the brakes. I changed the master cylinder, no problem, but hit a snag with the power brake booster: I called JEGS and told them what I needed, and they sent me the part. But, I just pulled the old off and the bolt pattern for the new one JEGS sent is very square, while the original is trapezoidal - pic attached. Does anyone know what the right part number is, either for the OEM or for a current part / manufacturer? Thanks a lot,
From the Ford Master Parts & Accessory Catalog. Ford dealers generally don't have these parts books as most of the parts are obsolete and they only serve the newest vehicle customers. The interchangability of parts either through OEM parts books or the Hollander books the wrecking yards used are very necessary for us who mess with old cars. 1973-74 used Ford part number D3OZ-2005-B , 1975-79 used Ford part number D5OZ-2005-B. TBirds and LTDII, Torino .The difference must be the bolt hole pattern. The 75 up is the square one.
The old one from my 79 wasn't that square. It's sitting on a shelf in the garage. The bottom bolts measured 4 1/4 to center, 3 3/8 left side to top , 4 3/4 top bolts, right side bottom to top 2 3/4. Hope this helps,
