Hello everyone. I picked up this Ranchero and immediately joined this site over a month ago. I've been lurking here and actually used the info from this site to fix my charging problem (bad regulator). So yeah, this place is great!

Anyway, I was looking for a daily driver and came across this truck on craigslist. I've always loved classic cars but never had the time, skill or money to get a good project going. I did have 1967 Fairlane 500 when I was 18, but my dad junked it when I went to college. When I saw the ad for the Ranchero, I said "F&ck it" and went out and got it. I ended getting a different car for a daily driver and this for messing around on weekends.

From the pics, you can see it needs a ton of work. Interior is shot, the wiring is butchered but she runs strong. Allegedly, the engine is newly rebuilt (1000 miles) with a Holley 4150 carb, headers and and Edelbrock intake.

Welcome aboard! Truck looks solid from the photos the interior can be fixed. I would say the very first thing you want to ask yourself before speding any time or money is.....What do I want from this car??? Cruiser, race, showcar???? once you have a direction then you can set up a plan and then.......HAVE FUN!!!! Take care Dan :)

Thanks guys. Right now my vision is a nice, clean fast truck. I don't really care to keep it original but don't want it to look outrageous. Right now I'm focusing on getting it safe to drive. I put mirrors on but it still has no real seat belts, the blinkers don't work properly and the interior lights don't work.

lol, Rancherito. Does it look higher than the average Ranchero? This is the 1st one I've seen in my life.

I agree, that thing needs to be lowered a bit. Or more! Good looking cruck though, I would have been pissed when your dad junked the old ranchero. Get those problems solved and get out on the road, and get used to people be ignorant and calling it an El' Camino.

Thanks for the feedback. That's 2 votes for lowering. I'll have to look into that whenever I get to the suspension. My best friend already slipped up and called it an El Camino. I nipped that shit in the bud haha

I was messing around under the hood a couple days ago and noticed a 4 stamped on the heads. My car is originally an H code so it came from the factory with the 2V heads. I was pretty stoked to find out that someone put the 4V heads on there. This car came with a lot of surprises; finally a good one lol.

The poor front's already smooshed, now it's gonna be slammed? Why didn't you just buy an S-10 and give it the royal treatment?

I think we've convinced our friend not to lower the poor truck.

I have seen the red one, that's my favorite ride on the site. I don't know how I have missed the blue one.
