1979 Ranchero throttle cable length?

Is there a difference between a 2 barrel & 4 barrel cable length? The one I have seems too long & the pedal works hard. The spring seems way too compressed. Thanks!

 

MPC shows same cable all engines 77-79: D7OZ-9A758-C, 20 1/4" long

Should have a red bushing at the spring.

 

If the cable is correct, the problem could be the way it is mounted.
