Your union buddies paved the way for the takeover by insurance Co's. Then they fixed the problem they created by paving the way for a government takeover. As now the situation is reaching bottom, they will find something else to ruin.
Mr. Negative, I lived 40 miles north of Detroit, in a really nice area (was then, anyway). And, for the umpteenth time, I really would like you to cease imagining me, be it with guys, girls, or whatever floats your fancy. Keep me out of your fantasies, or whatever you call them.
My imagining was limited to what fathers would do to keep their daughters away from Detroit. About the same as fathers did to keep their daughters away from me. Health care insurance was rare, and only covered major problems until the unions got in bed with the insurance Co's and forced employers to buy it. That is a fact, not opinion. Up until then, most health care was non profit. Once again, fact, not opinion. People were, for the most part, happy with the health care system in this country until the big insurance Co's took over. Fact, not opinion. If you think the government will do a better job, please site an example. The post office? The DMV? If there is any error in any of the above statements, please bring them to my attention.
Well I can tell you if you work where random drug testing is don't Don't use or you will be fired... end of story. I had a girl a couple years back in a job I held some years ago, we worked for 26 Police jurisdictions throughout the US so we were required to do 6 randoms a month. This young lady had a medicinal license to use but still lost her job because it was not allowed and zero tolerance. As for drivers in Colorado if you are pulled over and you are suspected of DWAI or DUI and you do NOT consent to a drug test Blood or Breath the State will revoke your license on the spot and your vehicle will be impounded. The loss of license is for a minimum of six months or longer and until you consent to a test you don't get your car back. I don't think many will try we have a Lawyer in town who will pick up the tab for the taxi if you need a ride home.
Big deal! That goes for just about every company and every state, and it's been that way for a while. Great advice though; don't do drugs, and don't drink and drive. Thanks.
Of course the Gov't won't do a better job, they muck up everything. The only error is some exaggeration of some of your facts. Insurance came about because there were 'many' people that couldn't afford this happy health care 'most' people were OK with. These people needed help to stay alive. Pardon humanity for coming up with insurance as a way to help them, even if imperfect. If it worked as great as you say, it would still be that way (hey, I'm a poet). Not sure the fix, but a fix is needed.
Just wait till you have a doctor mess you up and you try to sue them for malpractice under Obamacare. Every try to sue the government? I haven't but heard it's a lost cause. Not a person to sue but in some cases of gross negligence a doctor deserves to be sued. I feel if you get messed up under Obama care you will just be messed up and screwed for life with no recourse. I hope I'm wrong but that's how it was in the military.
Ahhh ... I imagine she meant, now that it's legal to use in CO, what does that do to the previous rules re employment testing? It's a good question. The herb now has a sort of official state sanction; what is the basis to penalize a user of a legal product, especially if you can't demonstrate any real impairment?
company pilicy, regardless of law, alcohol is leagal but an offence that will get you fired at most jobs if used during work
It's easy to test for alcohol ingestion, a breathalyzer or a blood test. If it reads over some percentage, you are assumed to be impaired. But no such test exists for marijuana use. You can still test positive [urine or blood test] a few weeks after the last time you smoked -- even if you smoked it while on vacation while out of the country. I think it's time is not quite yet, but change has to start somewhere. Washington and Colorado seem good to me. Meantime, medical marijuana is changing a lot of perceptions about it in places where that is legal.
A friend of mine has a(old fashioned) green receipt from 1958 when she was born. Her mother stayed in hospital one week. The price was $50.??. Now if you figure in wages for those days thats a weeks worth. Now a women stays in the hospital for 23 1/2 hr(stupid insurance) and the charges are equal to a month and a half of wages.Yes health care may be better,BUT.This is when the goverment first got in to health care and look what it cost us!
Washington set a legal impairment level for pot. So obviously they can, just as they did for alcohol. You should look into it. You guys banged the kettle for years demanding it be treated as alcohol is, you are getting your wish. There is a wise old saying 'Be careful what you wish for'.

It doesn't come in a bottle, it comes in a little plastic bag, kind of like the ones people use to pick up after their dogs.
It's crazy , isn't it. My back surgery took less than 2 hours. The surgeon sent me and my insurance company a bill for $155,000. The hospital bill was another $15,000 and I made sure I GTFO of there hours after my surgery despite them trying to get me to stay over night to run the bill up. Some other company sent me a invoice for $5,000. I called and they told me they did the monitoring during the surgery. I made it clear "I have no idea who you are. I didn't hire you, I ain't paying you. Get your money from the insurance company, the surgeon or the hospital." It's madness. I now go to physical therapy twice a week. The therapist charges my insurance $250 a visit. If I paid cash, it would probably be around 60 to 70 buck per visit (1 hour session). Almost every doctor I've been to does this.
You are not paying the doctor for a service anymore. You are paying the salaries of legion government employees, accountants, lawyers, inspectors, and other hangers on.
