Explorer 8.8 coming together, all new except for the housing and carrier. Shortened to 45.25 inches. Brackets for the upper triangulated 4 link made adjustable so I can change the anti squat from 30% to 130%.
Adjustable brackets installed and sheetmetal relieved and boxed in to fit house new upper control arms. Panel repair, panel made from 92 mustang door skin.
Rear and suspension installed for fit test. Suspension set-up for normal ride height. Wheel well extensions being welded in. Progress on extensions Frontend and bottom painted.
Hard to come by over here and I didn't have the patience to look for one. I sometimes wish I would have waited, just saw one in craigslist yesterday of course now that I don't need one.
Wheel well extensions welded and ground down. Extensions smoothed out and primed. Top view of modded well under bed cover. Rearview of car how it will sit.
Wow, that is looking good. Did you have to widen the wheel wells in the back to make room for those tires?
Ah forgot about taking some shots of it, it's for the most part finished and is sitting in the chero. Have the headers on, intake system for the most part in place, still waiting on my ac compressor to get the belt in place. Still need to rig up an air filter box and get the computer wired up. Will get some pictures of it soon.
Yep, stock 62 frame rails go towards the outside of the car right around the front part of the wheel wells. No way to get the those tires in there without removing the old frame wells and installing some new homemade ones. Then widening up the wheel wells.
Didos with all of the hard work, what size of tires are you running front and rear? If I see the pics correctly are you only angling the upper arms?
The tires are 315/35/R17's in the rear with 11" rims 3" backspace, fronts 7x17 4.75" back space tires are 225/45/R17's. Yes I only made the uppers adjustable. I thought about having two holes on the bottom arms but decided against it and to just move the uppers for anti squat adjustment. Didn't want to have the lowers too long and hanging down too low.
First-class fabrication work! This makes me feel like a slacker by comparison. I've had my '62 for seven weeks now and still trying to get through an engine rebuild and gas tank installation. I hope I can get it running by Christmas. Bob the Builder
Me too! My '60 has been parked for the past month because of over-heating issues. Great job Don C! You're giving the rest of us something to look-up to! Kevin
Nice job Don. Tubbed yours a lot more then the 60 I'm doing. What front suspension are you using? I used the tci kit. Good luck, waiting for the finish. Dave
Really impressiv work, what power plant are you putting in there. Anyway it's a awsome job youre performing
