65 Deluxe Door Panels

    Ranchero folks. Current door panels (not original) on my 65 Deluxe Chero are screwed into the door around the side and bottom perimeter of the panel with upholstery screws. Is this correct or were the original panels held down with clips on the back of the original panel so no fasteners are visible? I note my beautiful new panels have no prefab holes to fasten the perimeter so I don't have a clue to what is correct.

    I have a 65 Deluxe and the original panels for mine that I just put an eyeball on are clips.

    are there slots on the back for sliding clips, that then pop into holes in the door?

    For the door panels on my 69:
    Dearborne Classic, Part#90-26389, Door Panel/upholstery Clips.


    A check of fitment shows for Ranchero's 1960 thru 1970

    On the back of my originals there are slots for the clips.

    Here are photos of my crappy, 54-year old Deluxe panels. Two slots on each end take these clips:
