Hey all, it’s been a while since I’ve been on. Cochise is still kickin and so am I. I was wondering if someone could tell me why the 69 grille comes in three pieces with the middle piece being plastic, while the 68 grille is just one big metal part. Cochise is currently sporting the 69 version, though I’ve been thinking about a nice 68 piece I saw recently. Are these pretty much interchangeable ?
…thanks in advance, and a HIIII! to those of you who remember me.-Cindy & Cochise

Hey, Cindy! As sailors like to say, "No long 'see' time!" I'd wondered where you and a few others from the last five years got off to.

To answer your question, making the change actually saved Ford money. They also had done it on the LTDs and pickup trucks. The all-metal pickup grilles are highly sought after because the plastic ones are impossible to find in any intact condition.

Hi Andy! Yeah, I was lucky enough to find a really nicely refurbished one, and put it on him a few weeks ago. But I also like the 68 cuz for one thing it seems a lot stronger, plus iWork t be worried about every little pebble that tosses itself into Cochise’s front end when I roar down the street. I think I’ll end up leaving the 3pc one on him, and getting a nice 68 one ready to slap on should something stupid happen.
….I recently realized how much I like the taillights of a 67 Country Squire wagon and switch out his stock ones. Looks great and now he’s got a touch of the “cosmic era” lol.

    1) What I call "Jet pipe taillights."

    2) Pics, of course, would be very cool.
