71 351C 2 barrel running rich

    Rebuilt the stock Ford carb and checked timing, plugs and exhaust are very black.

    Should I be looking at the jets? They are "original".

    What else?

    Did you replace the power valve, install a base gasket on it? The 2100/2150 carbs will leak gas if the diaphragm is punctured, or the valve's base gasket is missing/compromised. Also check the venturi assembly gasket, they can rip or squish out on assembly.

    I did all the above, with no help but thanks for the suggestions.
    A new Holley carb ($550) and it runs a lot better.
