On my truck group (Ford full-sized pickups, '67 - '72), quite a few of the guys have gone for the cover, and say you can't tell the difference (except in the wallet). I guess you sand down the old dash, take a razor knife to any high spots, then epoxy the cover on. They say it wears well, too. I've mainly worked on the mechanical stuff, and haven't spent much time to beautify the interior.

Good question. I think the most important part of my install was having the entire dash out of the car. The instructions have it done in the car, but a good and proper prep and clamping, and trimming, couldn't be done that way. If there are failures with this cover, it's probably the prep that caused it.

There aren't many tach placement options on any of these old cars that didn't have one. You can block the speedometer and gas gauge. Bolt it to the hood. Or, put it in an empty spot, with nothing blocking the view.

I didn't say anything about your Dad. He isn't the one who ran a hole saw through a new dash.
I'm sorry he is losing his sight, but that has nothing to do with your reaction to honest criticism.
You never hesitate to rag on others for doing dumb things, and that is all right, everybody does dumb things.
    Even you.

We bought our 71 Ranchero from a true car guy who couldn't drive it anymore do to his age... he hadn't driven it for about 8 months and he couldn't bear looking at anymore... he was 96 years old.

Cool. Is he local? He'd probably like a ride occasionally.

Mini-me is up and about. It must be after 10AM on the east coast!
Have a good nights sleep FF? It's adorable how you always step in to defend your BFF, even early in the morning.

He's on his own, then. Maybe he can find an Uber Ranchero.
