Thank you again, Andrew. Napa is definitely cheaper than Epay.

YES ,I agree on that I paid 185.00 with core ,and have no leaks and that is why I changed mine in the first place ,
I also ,replaced pump ,hoses so as to have no problems in future. I like to go to out state shows once or twice a year

I got a Ford rebuilt box from summit for cheap. You may have sagginaw box(4 top bolts)Which are mo money but quicker steering. Also be aware of
there was a production change on parts in early 72. When ordering front bushings/bearings.

Or if you like adventure, you can put a seal/rebuild kit in the box you have. I did it on my old Ranger and it worked fine and was not too hard to do.

Just check part#on bearings and measure ID/OD on bushings before ordering to save return grief.
There is date stamp on frame by front sway. Not sure if suspension was assembled prior to completed body rolling off line.
My frame date is two months prior to completed final assembly.

Was a tech and later a mgr at Ford & LM dealerships most of my life. If you really want to improve the steering/handling in your '72...throw away your 72 box and find and purchase a '75 up steering gear. They were greatly improved with an new design GM style internal valve. Pre 74 gears had a spool valve that cause a lot of gear play giving the car excessive wander. Both style p/s gears are identical on the outside. We upgraded many ford products both mid and full size with the later internal control valve.
