Just to put a cap on the lighting part of this thread... THIS LIGHTING PROJECT WAS NOT COMPLETE AT THE TIME THE PICTURES WERE TAKEN. CHECK YOUR LOCAL ELECTRICAL CODES FOR THE PROPER MATERIALS AND METHODS FOR DOING SUCH A PROJECT BEFORE STARTING AND GOD FORBID, BEFORE YOU POST ANY PICTURES OF YOUR WORK. For the attorneys: DO NOT FOLLOW ANY EXAMPLES OF ANYTHING YOU SEE ON THIS THREAD, EVER. IF YOU DO, YOU ARE DOING SO KNOWINGLY AND TAKING ALL RISKS UPON YOURSELF. POSTER DOES NOT HOLD ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR IGNORANCE OF ANY GIVEN SUBJECT MATTER. May Darwinism rise again. Thank you. OP Now, back to the automotive hack work. lol
Handy, I was hoping the one good one I had was the Left one so I could send it to you. Figures, my left one is the one in the worst condition. If you need the right one I can send that to you.
I still hope that you address the hazards before there is a fire. In my profession, all too often I see these things after it is too late. I have an obligation as an electrical contractor to promote safe and conforming electrical installations. There was no need to go into an all caps rant. You asked, and I answered.
I'll take a look but I did already get a replacement unit for the left side. I appreciate your offer, and will let you know later.
The all caps part is not a "rant". It's known as a Disclaimer. Rants are just people blathering on about stuff they "think" they know. Anyway. Family visit is over tomorrow. Then I'll have a few days to hopefully do some work on the 'chero. Looking forward to it.
The right side marker lamp looks good right now, no lens cracks, no evidence of water intrusion, so I appreciate the offer but it won't be necessary.
No problem. Glad to hear you don't need to replace something. lol If anyone knows where I can find the front turn signal lenses for both sides that aren't all hazy and cracked up I'm interested in those. There was a guy that started a thread about making aftermarket replacements but he stopped responding to the thread all together. Thanks,
I'm sure someone has a YouTube video on DIY lenses. I once saw a segment on a car show on PBS on how to do it, but it's been so long I don't know what show it was, and I certainly don't remember the specific procedure.
I got a #1 set been sitting on for some time.Put them on fireplace mantle, told the wife they were worth than that crappy crystal. She dusts them weekly.
Quick update. Daughter moved back home and brought her 1990 Mazda Miata with a blown head gasket with her. Need to get her back on the road. So my son and I are ripping the engine & trans out and rebuilding them. I've already rebuilt everything else on that car so might as well finish it off. Here's the thread link if you're interested. https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=650534 Until we finish this unscheduled interruption the 'chero is on hold. Not happy about that but it does make for great training for Decklin on something other than my toy. lol
