Well, not easy, but not impossible, either. I did have to remove the defrost register and loosen the two left-side cluster screws to get the round end of the A/C duct into place, but once it was done, yeah, easy peasy.

So, going back together, I had to take care of one problem: when I went to put the duct in, I had to loosen the cluster to get it fitted in, but it caused the speedo cable to uncouple (the cable's lock is broken). I had to reach in and put the cable back on.

Everything's on, but 1) the cluster bezel doesn't attach on the right bottom end, and 2) even though the replacement dashpad is in good condition, the stamped nuts aren't in alignment, and I could only get three screws out of seven in. I'll have to take it off and redo everything.

Here's the replacement armrest, only needs that one cut fixed and cleaned.

You would think so. They came off a shawl I gave to my sister for Christmas, and since she didn't want them for the shawl, she removed the rest, for other projects. But yeah, they were up under the windshield, covering the VIN tag.

I took Babe for her first over-ten-miles drive, and she's got so much better power. But, at highway speed, there's spark knock. So I'll have to verify the advances, make sure they're not too high. But otherwise, she drives a lot better, and no oil leaky leakies so far. Even the Town Car radiator is doing great, steady temperature, no coolant leaks. So next up after I get some work done on Geoff's for the Grand Marq's selling, I'll check all main fasteners, make sure I didn't miss anything or anything came loose, and address the kickdown rod.

That's VERY good news Andy. Sounds like a simple issue to resolve, then you're mobile!

That's a possibility, although Andrew assures me, the carb is for a 351 CI engine.

Carb isn't the only possible cause.
Does it ping constantly, or when you give it a little gas? If the latter, be sure to check your PCV valve. EGR also.

So when I get some time, I'll run Babe over to my old shop, borrow the timing light and verify the advances. Hopefully, the vacuum advance can is adjustable; I'll take the old one along just in case.

Dammit! What I thought was a gunshot outside, was my pizza cutter spare blowing out! I have a pic, but because Verizon is being a butt-colored monster after replacing my bro's recent phone under warranty, I can't put it on my computer to resize it.

I know, that's how I do it. My problem is, I don't have a portal at my apartment, so I currently use my Verizon phone as a personal hotspot. Well, I come to find out yesterday, Verizon's throttling us, as my brother had to replace his 1-year-old phone under warranty. It makes one wonder, why say you're 'for' Net Neutrality when you pull idiotic stunts like throttling someone's data access over getting a replacement phone?

The primary purpose of Net Neutrality was throttling internet speeds on all platforms.
Luckily it is gone so things will improve fairly quickly.

Since I'm not all that great at explaining things, I'll let the Oatmeal do it. And if Internet Demigod Ernie Stewart (of Ernie's House of Whoop-Ass fame) says it's good to go up on his own website, I generally pay attention.

    Humorous, but only mildly.
I suspect it is a failed attempt at sarcasm.
