The door tag looks original, but DSO, Axle and Trans seem messed up? Body == 66B Color == Y Trim == 4G Date == 11D DSO == 510205 Axle == A Trans == Blank I don't know if this applied in 1967...but seems to explain the 2 digit vs 6 digit DSO number http://www.specialservicemustang.net/DSO.html All special-ordered Mustangs, whether or not a Special Service car, have a six digit number, instead of just a two digit one. The first two numbers still delineate the Sales Office, but the last four are the actual Dealer Special Order number. For instance, if a dealer special-ordered five Mustangs for a promotion in a non-stock paint color, such as a Thunderbird Blue, all five Mustangs would have the same six digit DSO code, ie. 24-0327, with 24 being the ordering sales office (Jacksonville, FL), and 0327 being the special order number (sequential). 51 would indicate Denver ...0205 ...so 205 ordered #? Any thoughts? Thx for your time,
The axle code A is a 3.00 locking differential, 51 is Denver sales and the 0205 is the sequential invoice number from them The blank trans space could be what the special order was for. My old 68 pickup had special order paint so no paint number even though it was a 68 color for a Thunderbird. A friends Mustang has the long DSO and no paint code, it was painted a Thunderbird color. Remember Marti Reports are 1967 and newer, the earlier records were destroyed by Ford so we will never know about those years.
