If you drive a new car with good rated headlights at night, you will never go back. Of course, if you live in a urban environment, you probably don't even need headlights.

Boy oh boy do you have that right Sean. I really appreciate the new design lights in my Mercedes. Jury is still out on having a car that reacts like Alexis and listens to what you say to it. I can get around the eavesdropping part by not saying anything but have to wonder how long a life span all those intelligent components will have. Ya think these tech wonders might be trade bait in just a few short years ?

Never know about these new cars with their on board data recorders, maybe like the airlines they might have a cockpit recorder so watch out what you and you buddies are saying in the wife's car , she may know how to listen to what you've said.

Tesla is way ahead of you. Speaking of, here's a fatal semi crash from the side view mirror of a Tesla. Last week. Guess which vehicle contained the fatality. It's hard to watch if you don't watch these all the time.

I'm more concerned about Big Business Brother. I know my phone's picked up convos I've had, because even without having a call or text convo, if I have a face-to-face convo with someone about something, and then what we talk about shows up on my FB news feed, then I know someone or something is listening, and because of how very specific the item is, it cannot be coincidence.

Privacy is gone. If you don't like it, move to an island, alone.

No cell phone and no OnStar in my rides. Shop manual divulged the transmitter location in my Mercedes, it now resides in a box out in the garage neutered.

Whatever you say. If you work, you have to have a cell nowadays.

Not really Sean. We have been led to believe we can't live without being on call 24/7 but in reality, if you set your own schedule folks who really want your services will resort to old school measures to talk to you.

Stop arguing with Hillbilly. He says he has no cell phone, he has no cell phone. Leave the old guy alone.

Not arguing, but I can't go without. And I don't know many that could and stay employed and/or successful. It's not the 1980's. I guess I'm not that privileged.

Here's what wouldn't go over very well, for me.

"Hey, boss, here's my phone. I'm going off the grid. Don't try texting or calling, and if I don't respond to your emails for hours, or days, it's because I wasn't at my desk."

I guess I could quit my job and live off my massive savings. HAHAHAHAHA>

That's what I do on vacation. The phone stays home. The laptop stays home. I am an un-person for the duration as far as they are concerned. Hillbilly just chooses to do that 27/7/365. Leave him be.

It's one of the perks of being an old fart Sean. Even if John ribs me about being old, what he just said leads me to believe that he fully understands the concept of being " Out of Sight, Out of Mind ". First chance he get's he likely will become a crotchety semi-recluse and be good at it. Doing so has it's rewards, try it sometime.

You kidding??? The CDC modeled the practice of 'social distancing' and 'sheltering in place' after observing me for a few years. I'm a people-avoiding ninja.
