When the headers were installed on my 1967 Ford Ranchero Fairlane 500 they did a crappie job and I'd like to do it better. I need a picture or diagram of the part that bolts to the frame because it's not right, it's tack welded there. Also if that part is available? Thanks
Howdy Bud - Not quite sure what you're looking for - my 67 with C4/column shift had no attachment to the "frame", it went from the column directly to the transmission arm. I ended up installing an AOD trans and used Lokar linkage for the column to trans and Lokar cable for the passing gear. The only welded on part I recall was the power steering ram mount had to be lowered to clear the headers and mine was "hacked" by the previous owner as well. There used to be a bracket available to bolt on where the original one did, but rarely see one anymore.
Thanks pmrphil, I was told that it was attached to the frame (I don't know) he also said that some did attach to the frame and some didn't ? Again (I don't know) what I do know a previous owner "hacked" the hell out of it, the part not attached to the transmission is NOT original, and that's the part I need to FIND! It's a homemade part there now! I want to get it as right as I can!!! The info you gave he helps and thank you for helping!
I can't today I'm out of town, but if your talking about a picture of what's there now, I'm not sure it would help because what's there now is not original, you can tell it's be fabricated I do know if I had a photo of what's supposed to be there that would help me!
It would help a BUNCH, as it would show what it's attached to. Mine was also not the original linkage, but I was able to make it work - BUT, it was NOT attached anywhere but from the column to the shift arm on the transmission. So, yes, pictures will help.
