I hope all you southern Cali Ranchero folks are safe during the fires. I can't imagine what that must be like. Hang in there, and I hope you get the help you need.

I'll try and keep my political mouth shut being an expatriate, but I concur with BB...

Well My house is in no danger the closest fire is about 8 miles away but I have a vacant cabin in the mountains between US 101 and Malibu that is in real danger. It nearly burned down 6 years ago. The only reason it was saved is because there was no trees or bushes close to the house. My dad that built it in 1948 was a fireman so he knew not to plant anything near the house in a fire area. Some of my family members have no power and had to evacuate but are back home now. Not trying to be political but people have a right to know who is running the show here in LA. CA.

CA Governor (D) Newsom, no need to explain
LA Mayor (D) black female , she was visiting africa while LA was burning (no joke)
LA fire chief white female lesbian
LA asst. fire chief black female lesbian
LA head Dept of (no) water and power (D) hispanic female earns $750,00 per year (she is a friend of the mayor)
    LA city council 14 (D) 1 (I)
    LA county board of supervisors 5 women 4 (D) 1 (R)

ALL aerial firefighting was halted because of landing and departure of air force one here for a presidential photo op with the governor (D) (D)
Hispanic male arrested YESTERDAY for ARSON in the woodland Hills section of LA (burned 960 acres so far)

Figures - stop all firefighting because the D's want publicity. You have to ask, just WHAT good did the president being there do? We all know the answer.
Sorry for the rant. Carry on.

State to probe why Pacific Palisades reservoir was offline, empty when firestorm exploded

I guess they needed the water elsewhere for frogs, fish pollywogs and tadpoles, maybe some illegal MJ grows ?
LA Mayor Karen Bass (D) cut fire department funding by $17.6M, focused on homeless spending— months before wildfires turned city into hellscape

    Something new every day,
The LA Deputy Mayor (black) that was in charge of the fire department was put on leave 3 weeks ago for a Bomb Threat.

Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's CEO Janisse Quinones now has a 24/7 LAPD detail in response to the threats,
Quinones has also previously said she views her position through an "equity lense" and uses it to provide social justice.
Social Justice but NO water to fight fires.

I'm sure many of you have seen the video of one of the LA Fire Chief....essentially, she said that if you need to be carried out of a burning building, you shouldn't have gotten yourself into that situation.

The 8,000 acres cited in the article equate to 12.5 square miles. Imagine driving 3.5 miles north, then 3.5 miles east, then 3.5 miles south and finally 3.5 miles west back to your starting point. You drove fourteen miles around 8,000 acres.
