They're the pieces that attach the rear ends of the springs to the frame, and allow the springs to flatten to take the shocks of the road.
Thanks, Andy. Are they those things with the holes to raise the back end up an inch or two? I was considering taking it up to those last holes, because getting him in and out of the barn would be easier.
Do not do that the stance is just about right I would do as BB suggests and look at replacing them with stock shackles
Here's the part -- they won't let me post a pic, but go to the link: http://www.dearbornclassics.com/ford-fairlane-torino-ranchero-spring-shackle-kit-rear-1964-1971.html It's easy to install, might need a propane torch to remove the old insulator from the rear of the spring socket. Just unbolt the rear hanger where it attaches to the main body. Give the body a sideways shove at the rear, if it moves the spring shackel(s) are likely the fault.
Long day but a good one. We took Henry and Cochise to an early morning car show, and then went to look at another bigger show. Pics coming...
.....I met the gentleman who is selling that white 68 I posted on another thread. Turns out he bought the car but then needed more cash for his house, so he has to sell it. I told him about this site and that I shared his CL link, he seemed very grateful. Doesn't seem like the type to know much about computer stuff. Hope he finds his way on here, name was Rudy.
Haha, Im sure that woulda made him quite happy, but no I didn't. I wouldn't mind having it, sure, but then id feel bad turning it into a parts car for Cochise.
