Red Foxx's Roadrunner... http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/4246170382.html http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/4263941275.html
The Mercury is probably worth every penny of the $3800. The Roadrunner,...eh, I was never a fan of MOPARS. I thought they were cheap. I never liked how they painted everything on the body at once, from the hood hinges to the fender bolts, etc.
A guy that dumps $1500 in wheels and tires before the important stuff is done, and runs out of money or passion. If you can't drive it, what difference do the wheels and tires make?
I don't know. Maybe he got a great deal on the wheels and tires; one he couldn't pass up at the time? You should ask him. He said it needs some things to be roadworthy, which I took to mean 'street legal' because he also said the 429 was strong. Hell, I could be wrong. Ask him to clarify that too. I think this is FF's new car.
$1500 for some Cragars would be a great deal? It would be perfect for him. I'm sure his wife has called him "you big dummy" lots of times.
If you can't drive it, you can't drive it. The exact reason why would be important to FF if he wants the car, but not to me or my point.
The Montego probably won't pass smog. In Las Vegas, they smog back to '68. I couldn't get the Hulk (my '72) to pass smog when I lived there. I agree that it is probably worth every penny of $3800. The Roadrunner, way overpriced, but something interesting I found while browsing. For some reason I have developed an affection for 67-71 Chrysler Newports/Imerials/300's and came across the Roadrunner while looking. I have a bad disease...
So, if a car runs strong, and burns rubber, and stops good, but needs taillights and a smog test you're saying you can't drive it? You need to ask him.
The seller of the Montego says "I began building a Mercury Cyclone Clone and lost steam." Yeah, pricing those rare Cyclone parts can do that. I know.
About the only way to spend more money that you will never get back than investing in a Ranchero is to build a 'clone'.
