Crate engines?

    Come to think of it, the last Ford catalog I had might've been 'turn of the Century.'

    I was at the ford racing site just the other night. Them crate motors based off the 351 are pretty bad ass. I was thinking how much the 64 would love one of them.

    those Boss blocks have thicker material around the lifter bores as well. tough stuff, big bucks.
    i paid 2,200 for my machine work and short block assembly.

    Will a small block drop right in to my 67 390 ranchero xl500 ? the 390 is toast... any recommendations appreciated

    You'll probably need new engine mounts, and the tranny won't bolt up to a small-block. If the bell housing is a separate piece, you might be able to find a replacement. If it's not separate, it's a no-go. Depending on your budget and schedule, you can always rebuild the 390.

    For the amount of machine work and good quality parts this is a good deal provided they give you a good warranty, If you assemble yourself you have the satisfaction it is done wright if you take your time and and check all clearances.
