Okay, here's the deal. I am 16 years old, and inherited my new pride and joy when my grandpa died, a 1962 Ford Ranchero. It was in pretty bad condition, though completely fixable, or so I thought. After cleaning it up a bit, getting rid of the rust spots, removing the mushrooms growing in the interior, and cleaning up my drum brakes. (I am poor, I'd like to buy some new parts but hey, what's a guy to do?) So now, I am left with a Ranchero that looks okay, but unfortunately the only thing that actually works in the car is the engine (most of the time) and the tail lights. No electrical things work, the break lights, the head lights, the radio, but the tail lights do work, just not when breaking. Obviously it is some sort of wiring problem. I have been looking everywhere online and in several book stores for a repair guide and/or a wiring diagram for my good ol' 1962 ford ranchero, everything is out of print or unobtainable. Does anyone know where I can order any or have any ideas as to how I can solve my problems? Thanks a bunch.
Rich, There are a few places you can try. First one you will not even have to get out of your seat! just check out E-bay you may find something there. you can also check out your local swap meets. I belong to a ranchero club that is based out of Washington state (the old ranchero club that used to be out of Penn.) the man's name is russ weston (russweston@juno.com) he might be able to help you find some manuals. Good luck! Dan the ranchero man.
welcome to our club, have you checked the fuses?? as regards a manual try clicking on t-bird below then falcon then manuals <A HREF="http://www.thunderbirdconn.com" TARGET=_blank>T-bird </A> l bought a ford reproduction manual for a 62 falcon [it included the ranchero] for $30.00 from them for a christmas present for a friend, very good book and friendly service, they are also in phoenix so l stopped by to take a look!!! they have lots of early 60's ranchero stuff, regards, colin [ April 17, 2004: Message edited by: azcolin ]
Rich, for the most part the Rancheros are identical to the model they were based on each year. For your 62 that would be the 62 Falcons. There shouldn't be any differences in the basics between the two... engine, drive train, wiring, brakes, all the same. There are sources for reproductions of the factory shop manuals, wiring diagrams, and many other reference books. For the most part the books aren't cheap... but they are available. Good sources for Ranchero / Falcon parts are: AutoKrafters Dearborn Classics Mac's Antique Auto Parts I'm located in Federal Way, and would be willing to get together with you to help figure out your wiring problems. Send me an e-mail with your phone number, and I'll try to get back to you this weekend. [ April 17, 2004: Message edited by: D.B. Roberts ]

Rich, I have a '62 Chero also. I have done major mods to my electrical system and have a copy of the wiring diagram. I could easily make a zerox and snail mail it to you ( NO CHARGE ) if you cannot locate one soon. Alex mechanic@bellsouth.net
Alex, Any chance you might be able to scan that wiring diagram and e-mail it to me? If not it's cool, but if so it's way cooler!
<BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by ncranchero: I started to but I just ain't going to do it! <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> And I'm fairly certain that I should really appreciate that Steve!
Rich & D.B. I am not sure if the scanner will do it justice since it is in rather fine print but we will try to scan it in. If that does not work I will Zerox it and snail mail it to you both.
Thanks Alex! But be careful around this crowd, or they'll start calling you things like "sweet"... LOL
Funny, that's what my wife calls me most of the time... Colin, no offense taken. Just giving you a hard time...
