^^^^HAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, that was the first thing I thought of when he said he was getting rid of the radio, because the reception sucked. You have to have a clean, undamaged, aerial and cable, then the trim pot needs to be adjusted to maximize reception. Since Babe's aerial and cable are tested, setting this unit up will be a snap, providing it doesn't have other undiagnosed problems. But, no worries, it means I won't be cutting the dash for tunes.
Yeah, and if you are inclined or have the need those large case old radios can be modified for use with Blue Tooth and I-pod additionally to the AM and FM bands. Nice stock dash with modern features.
Really not that hard, set radio to a weak AM station, turn the volume up about half way and their should be a little hole that a shirt pocket flat blade screwdriver will fit in on one of the sides or possibly the back depending on the radio, turn one way or the other until you get max signal and volume.
yea sir , Thats what I will be installing a moderern old radio, of course, this is a good 16 months out, if my Beer budget is calculated right !!!!
Beer budget comes first, you can always sing to yourself. I'm still partial to Sirius radio, I have two of the detachable models that can be hidden and one through the factory radio and all are paid for lifetime subscriptions that are paid for. Not sure if they sell the lifetime subscription anymore.
yes, sir, I have the Sirius radio in the garage, house, and 3 vehicles next best invention since sliced Rye Bread as far as sing to my self funny, I did that in my ranchero driving it home from SAN JOSE CALF, 2700 MILES WASNT IMPRESSED WITH MUSIC CHOICES !!!
At least you couldn't shoot the music critic on your drive and mine didn't come with Rye, Pastrami or mustard and pickles.
LMAO Joseph!!!! Andy, how soon do you need it? I'm pretty sure it will get into a "if it fit's it ships" box for what ever that goes for these days. Cheers, Doc
Andrew if you ever get up my way stop in and I will let the wife wield her magic with the Pastrami, kraut, rye n mustard....... to die for!!! Oh an we import pickles from the Amish market in south Jersey, I got pickles you've never even dreamed of. Cheers, Doc
This is the beastie in question, WITH the 77 knobs. The pic is prior to my gauge install and that is the gauge plug hanging in the way. The speedo cable is still in there spinning happily away as the GPS speedo tells me how fast I am going now. Cheers, Doc
So my youngest son walks in while I have this thread up and he looks at the radio on the screen and asks if it is a "single Din" I said no it's a Pre Din radio when Kraco was as good as it got for drop in radios (He has no idea what a Kraco is) but I said I'm going to turn my dash into a single Din. He says "Oh" and walks out. 3 minutes later he walks in and hands me an Alpine CDA-9856 head unit, says it was a pull out from a Subbie he and his buddies stripped for parts and nobody wanted it, but I need to get a cable for it. Amazon says the head unit is $455.00 and the cable is $5.99, the Bluetooth cable is $20.00 more. Looks like I'm fabbing dash panels this weekend!!! Cheers, Doc
Yeah, my friend Steven's the same way. My niece's Maxima needed a head unit (actually turned out to be the damned adapter plugs), so he pulled a new, unused unit from the shelf, has all the inputs AND a CD drive! Already ordered for my birthday....
