Did mine a few weeks ago but not to bare metal as you are doing. It was bad enough on mine just rubbing it down to prepare for fresh paint, I don't envy you having to get into all those bed mouldings and corners. Incredible job you're doing though, I still look at this thread for inspiration at times.
You got to make sure the Mounting holes at top Corner bed trim are Sealed...... Also the storage area had a seam in the bed ..2 foot from back wall of cab...
Got bed down to metal... need to clean window lip...black sealer on it Moving forward little more and it's sandable...then sealer
First coat of KBS RUST SEALER on the bare metal in bed...I have to scuff it down with 400 grit and top coat... Tropical storm coming needed it sealed up ...needs a Second coat then .. Rapture Bed liner. Making progress
It Dry's in 2-4 hours and thinners won't remove it.. KBS RUST SEALER GOOD stuff... Gloss black is 48.00 a quart...
Is Ocala fairly high ground Andy? Are you planning to sandbag or board up windows? Or just a pool party?? I was living in Houston in 1983 when hurricane Alicia came through, a category 3. I could see downtown Houston from my apartment, and it looked like a war zone, with transformers blowing up everywhere. I listened to what folks were telling me, and taped up my windows, filled up the tub so I had water to flush, and bought up a bunch of stuff I could eat or cook on my Coleman stove. The A/C was out for days at my apartment, but was still OK at work, so I slept on the couch there for a few days. The other days were spent in the apartment pool and drinking beer to stay cool. I hope Helene gives you a break.
We are located 65 miles inland from each Coast....we have had power outage for 4 Days during previous storms I have a 20 KW propane Generator...it's a commercial unit powered by A Pinto 4 cylinder...300 lbs tank of propane... Good For 14 days constant run .. I have in the past put up plywood over windows .... thanks for your concern to ask ... I believe we will ride it out and just heavy winds 60 mile per hour...no trees around house 200 feet... over clear area.
Hurricane Milton is on the way looking like Cat 4 .. Coming right across us praying for it to lessen its strength.. before land fall... fingers ...
I think your generator will be your saving grace Andy; you can have electricity for lights and refrigeration, maybe even A/C... Here's hoping all goes well.
Thanks... well I have 300 gallon reverse osmosis tank...TDS LEVEL STAYS 23 ..pump in garage. AOK... -RICHARD. THANKS
