Lemme guess... He's got a fat check after scamming the insurance company, and he's already bought something dumb like a Subaru.

I flat out rejected their first offer on my car. I hit them with a number I would have been happy with, but knew it was a dream. They countered with a number that split the difference, so I was good. Tomorrow the wife is picking up her one-owner, 11,000 mile, 2016 Subaru Outback Limited. Loaded to the gills. She liked it, but most importantly she won't be taking Pat whenever it snows now.

If I hadn't told you this two days ago, you'd come off somewhat clairvoyant, instead of snippy.

Hope it gives her good service. I guess now we can hear the real story on Subies, good or bad.

It's the new "Volvo" thang - throwback to the yuppie culture. "Love" and "Subaru" all wrapped up in the same commercials...

I remember one of the dudes in high school drove a Subaru. His boyfriend seemed to like it too.

My friend Steven got a brand new Crosstrek, and he's definitely on the correct side of the tracks. He not only bought it, but he paid the four-year loan (just under $10K) off in a year and a half.

If you want a car that always ranks high on the dependability scale and holds its value, buy a Subaru or Volvo.

The only avatar he ever displayed that was worth a darn had a Ford Blue Oval adorning a shapely lass... everything else has been a disappointment to be gracious.

We drive a Subaru Outback. Love it. I can carry all my dj equipment anywhere it needs to be. Comfortable, reliable. Only thing I don't like is you have to raise the engine to change spark plugs. Luckily they only need changed every 100K or so.

Raise the engine? DOHC engine? I never lifted a Subie engine to change plugs; rather, it comes down to the tools you choose with which to do the job. On the DOHC engines, you only need to remove the washer bottle (driver side) and the airbox (psgr side).

Exactly why Steven bought his Subie. BTW, as a teen, I rode in the back of my high school friend's parents' Brat. Now I was 6'4" back then, so every tossed pebble, stray bug and falling leaf found my back and the back of my head. Not to mention, NO belts, so if Mark and I wanted to live through a rollover, we had to jump for it.

They didn't need seat belts. They had those cool hand grips to hold you in place :D
