Working on engine 351M and trans FMX currently. Hoping to get to the body sooner than later once we have the sucker running. Dropped in the rebuilt engine recently and hoping to get the carb etc on this weekend and fire it up to perform the engine break in. Here's a few pics of the engine when we had it out, and the trans back from the shop. Here's a breakdown of the parts that went in so far (If anyone has recommendations please share, I'm new to all the rebuild etc but am trying): American Racing Rims + Tires ARP Connecting Rod Bolts ARP Cylinder Head Bolts ARP Valve Cover Bolts ATM-2300 Tach Carter Mechanical Fuel Pump Chromoly COMP Cams Pushrods Distributor Proform 66980B + HEI Pigtail Edelbrock 800 CFM Carb EDL-1913 Edelbrock 8714 1" carb spacer Edelbrock Air Cleaner EDL-4266 Edelbrock Cam and Lifters EDL-2172 Edelbrock Carb stud kit Edelbrock Dual Fuel ine EDL-8132 Edelbrock Intake Dual Plane EDL-2171 Edelbrock Intake Manifold Bolts EDL-8574 Edelbrock Spark Plug Wires 22704 Edelbrock Timing Chain EDL-7821 Edelbrock Valve Cover Gaskets EDL-7569 Ford Raving Valve Covers FMS-M-6582-Z351 Gas tank, check valve, lines, sender, etc Hookers Headers 6125HKR Jegs vacuum Canister Keith Black Pistons UEM-1167-030 Melling High Flow Oil Pump MEL-M84AHV Milodon High Flow Water Pump 16235 New Engine Mounts Oil Catch Summit Raybestos Brake lines (all) Raybestos Master Cylinder Sealed Power Piston Rings Spectra 3 Row Radiator Stant Super Stat Thermostat Timing chain cover SES-5-65-04-201 Transmission mount Trick Flow Cylinder Heads TFS-51616203-C00 Trick Flow Rocker Arms TFS-53400621 Tru-Tech Voltage Regulator
Well just found out I needed special linkages for the carb. So if anyone gets the same carb they are EDL-1483 and EDL-1493 for the throttle lever and throttle adapter for the 351m. Progress is progress though.
800 CFM Carb EDL-1913 is way to much carb for a 351 ci motor unless you are planning on turning 9000+ RPM a 600 cfm will do you just fine
5.0, I was wondering that too. I told Edelbrock support we bored it out a .3 and increased compression. Shooting closer to hopefully 450 horse (from what the motor shop informed me). They recommended the 800cfm. I am hoping it is not too much
I agree with 5.0 Chero. 800 cfm is too big. Most people tend to go bigger than they need to on carbs.
IT"S ALIVE!!! Fired it up after the rebuild and all. Sounds great! This is just headers, exhaust not connected.
