Run of the mill boring. Between the interesting boring of mine and the mind-numbing painful boring of MO's.
That section of the Q is known as the Aurora Racetrack, for the high-speed freight, passenger and commuter trains that ply it every day. Hop on www.trains.com and head into the archives; there are plenty of articles about Illinois railroading over the decades.
Hey, the locomotive does say "C&O, for progress." It shouldn't require your mother to scan it; you should be able to do it yourself.

The Illinois Central ran criss-cross of the CBQ there, upraised above. My friend & I hiked the IC from East Ave. to the cross-over Saturdays in winter, about 1 block east of Ridgeland Ave., and watched those marvelous "Q"s run beneath us in delight! Likely trespassing, but we had no idea. By the time I did that, 8th. grade., the steamers were mostly gone. mo. Edit: I never heard the term "Aurora Racetrack" before, but then, my actual involvement with any CBQ operation was strictly "observer". Have you ever heard of the infamous Steam Excursion in 1959, during which CBQ Texas 6315 (?) broke an eccentric rod near Zearing, IL? mo.
It had some funny parts in it. Mo, there used to be a member here named GTODave. He had a great sense of humor, but decided the a huge ego here and constant attacks weren't worth stopping in (seems he was also smarter than most). Anyway, he's an engineer up in NY, and he posts some really good stories and photos on Facebook. You'd have liked Dave. Good guy.
Would have? I remember Dave and yes he was a good one. Shame about *ahem* 'an ego' driving him away. Maybe tell him to come back? Tim from Cleveland was another good one.
I've mentioned to Dave that he should stop in, but he's all, 'Nah, it ain't worth it'. Can't argue with that. I am Facebook bud's with both Tim and Dave. Tim left for the same reason (and he's from Akron).
Only if you live in Akron. Here's a pic Dave posted a few days ago, on a trip through Pennsylvania. Talk about awesome job.
Looks like by my house. Well, the sky and the trees anyway. Hey, wait a minute... how do we know that ain't no Photoshop?
But all you did was post a photo. There's really nothing there to back up what you say. Aren't a few supporting facts warranted?
